Guest Stories

On May 10, my father, Carl Thomas, a veteran of the Korean War conflict, was scheduled for outpatient surgery at 7:30 a.m. at the Cincinnati Ohio VA Clinic. My parents, who lived over three hours away, were registered to stay at the Fisher House. They were thrilled to stay at the facility. The quality and craftsmanship of the room that they stayed in mirrored the overall wonderful environment. Although there were obvious hardships, the other visitors seemed at ease. I know it helped make my mom and dad less tired for the day that lay ahead of them and the long journey home. It really was like home. If there is ever a volunteer event in which the proceeds will benefit the Fisher House, I would like to be notified so that I can be a participant. Thank you again and God bless the Fisher House!

I have stayed at the Fisher House in Cincinnati, Ohio often since February of this year. My husband has pancreatic cancer. I don’t know what we would have done if it weren’t for the Fisher House. We had very little income at this time. We both had to stay at the house during the six weeks of his radiation treatments. It is a beautiful place and the workers are wonderful! The acting manager, Karrie, is the best! She really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. I thank God for the Fisher House! It really is a home away from home.
